Even if you aren’t a huge comic book fan, you can love this movie. In fact, I think you will love it. Huge Marvel or Guardians of the Galaxy fan or not, here’s why you’ll love the movie.
1. James Gunn is a genius
Hands down, he has done a brilliant job with this movie. He’s kept true to some of the source material while making it enjoyable for all. I can’t wait to see the GOTG sequel in 2017.
2. We love the 80s
At least if you’re a product of the 80s, you love the 80s, and there are so many references in this movie you can’t help but laugh.
3. You want to see Chris Pratt with his shirt off
Objectification or not, his transformation is incredible and you can’t help but admire someone who makes that kind of a change for their health and family.
4. Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is just that…Awesome
No, not “Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you’re part of a team.” I mean, it is, but this movie soundtrack kills it with music of the 70s and 80s. I had to get my hands on a copy of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1 Soundtrack.
5. We Love Groot
Or more accurately, “I am Groot.” He’s nature’s ambassador, he’s lovable. And how many ways can Vin Diesel say “I am Groot” in a single movie? You’ll be amazed.
6. Battle scenes are epic
The battle scenes are epic. The sets, the fighting. It’s all been thought through. I’m not an uber action fan, but I loved it. And no, not because Chris Pratt takes his shirt off once.
7. Make-up is amaze-balls
So much green and blue…and it always looks good. The make-up artists on this movie were astounding. To be able to jeep make-up looking that fresh and consistent for months is no small feat.
8. Mutant rat as microphone
Yep, that happened. Who doesn’t rock out in a sing-a-long to their favorite 80s song using a mutant rat as an air mic?
9. Marvel tie-ins
Pay attention when you meet The Collector. You’ll love some of the Marvel character tie-ins from the comic books. Subtly worked in as to not cause disruption to the plot, but there.
10. The talent is truly awesome
Seriously, the whole cast is astonishing. The chemistry on set alone is worth your time, but I’ll be shocked if you dislike it.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
