The 2012 Lenne Estate Pinot Noir is a beautiful Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley. On the nose, the 2012 Lenne Estate Pinot Noir has chocolate, black cherry, and raspberry aromas, with a hint of licorice and earthen notes. The chocolate was the first aroma I noticed, actually. Delightful! On the palate, similar flavors as aromas—raspberries, black cherry, chocolate, a hint of smoke, earth, and licorice. Soft, fine tannins with a denser mid-palate lead into a nice medium-long finish. The depth of this wine was fantastic. It’s one of the favorites I’ve had recently.
We paired this wine with a wild rice orzo, sun-dried tomato, and feta dish for dinner, but it would also pair well with any lamb, duck, or beef cooked in a simple preparation.
Lenne is known for producing big style Pinot Noirs with minimalist winemaking style from fruit entirely of their 20.9-acre vineyard in Yamhill, Oregon.
