We’ve been so excited for Ant-Man and the Wasp to fly into theatres July 6. This weekend we saw the movie at a screening and again at the world premiere. We have a spoiler-free Ant-Man and the Wasp review for you.
5 Reasons to see Ant-Man and the Wasp
1. Wasp is the first female superhero who has appeared billed in a Marvel film title.
Evangeline Lilly • Hannah John-Kamen • Michelle Pfeiffer
With so much girl power in one movie, we’re loving the push for more gender equality we’re seeing in Marvel films these days.
And let’s not forget Abby Ryder Forston and Judy Greer, who both provide their own feminine elements to the movie.
We all know females can kick ass and are badass in their own right. However, females also bring grace and femininity to fight scenes, making them elegant and graceful while still being powerful in a way that males just can’t. Absolutely worth the watch. Go girl power.
2. The Ant-ourage is back.
It can’t be an Ant-Man film without Luis telling some epic stories in only the way that Luis can tell a story. Having Luis, Kurt, and Dave, help save the day with their own style of back-up is a must-have heist-style element.
3. Great comedic moments.
This is the lighthearted Marvel film we need after Infinity War. With as dark and intense as Infinity War was and with the world’s most stressful cliffhanger, Ant-Man and the Wasp provides a great relief and reminder that Marvel movies can be fun.
4. The family theme is strong.
Is Ant-Man and the Wasp Safe for Kids? I think so. Certainly ages 8 and up. Ant-Man and the Wasp is a lighthearted comedy with a strong family thread that’s a great summer family movie. You’ll laugh out loud (and almost wish you hadn’t because you’ll miss a few moments of dialogue that you’ll wish you’d heard). This movie is intense in all the right ways while still being suitable for younger kids. I heard one “ass” as the only real curse word in the film (there was also a partial “shit” that she cuts herself off so she doesn’t say the whole word. Because of this, I think Ant-Man and the Wasp is family friendly.
5. One epic cookie credit.
Ant-Man and the Wasp flies into theatres July 6, 2018.
Thanks to Walt Disney Studios for bringing me to Los Angeles on an all-expense paid trip. As always, all opinions are my own.
