Unless you’re involved in the theatre, Halloween is really the only legitimate time you can dress up in full costume and make-up and no one wonders what’s wrong with you. Halloween is my favorite holiday (I even prefer it to my birthday, which counts as a holiday, right?). Lucky for me, my kids love Halloween, too—partly for the costumes, and partly for the trick-or-treating. They also love decorating for Halloween and helping me pull them out of the Halloween bins to transform our house into a mini-haunted house. They always ask to decorate weeks before the holiday and ask to leave them up as long as possible. Their favorite decoration? A zombie garden gnome my 5-year-old twins picked out last year.
Choosing costumes is always a fun part of the holiday. This year, we have a witch, a Monster High character, a “pretty kitty” cat, and Aragorn from Lord of the Rings. It took some deciding before we settled on the costume choices we ended up with. Some other ideas that were tossed around included Super Girl, a cow, and a ladybug.
The Wisest Kid in the Whole World also has some creative ideas for Halloween costumes. A spoon, astronaut, firefighter, cowboy—or you could even go as him if you download a cut-out beard!
