LEGO STAR WARS SUMMER VACATION REVIEW
This adorable new LEGO Star Wars animated film is a must-watch for the family. Loaded with franchise jokes, Easter Eggs, and an incredible voice cast, this movie is loads of fun.
In LEGO STAR WARS SUMMER VACATION, Finn has arranged a surprise vacation for his friends after saving the galaxy from Emperor Palpatine and the First Order. Their galactic getaway aboard the Halycon Galactic Starcruiser—the very same one you can book at Walt Disney World!—goes awry when the friends all separate to do their own activities.
Alone in the Cantina on board the Halcyon, Finn is visited by 3 different Force Ghosts: Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter), and General Leia Organa (Shelby Young) who each tell a story of their own vacation gone wrong reminiscent of the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future in A Christmas Carol.
LEGO STAR WARS SUMMER VACATION Takeaways
During a witty journey through a saga of Star Wars movies, Finn gets a lesson about vacations, friendship, and himself from each of the Force Ghosts who visit him in the Cantina. From making memories to enjoying the journey, each of these gems is the takeaway you are looking for.
Some of our favorite takeaways?
- “A trip isn’t about the end, it’s about the journey.” Finn
- “Although every trip must eventually end, the memories never do.” Lando Holovid
After having just said goodbye to my best friend tonight before she and her family make their way back to France later this week, the messages of the Force Ghosts definitely resonated with me and reminded what great morals and messages the LEGO Star Wars franchise brings to the table. Remembering to spend time with the ones you love, whether on The Halcyon or at home, is one of the most important things in life.
A wise Jedi once told me, ‘No one’s ever really gone.’ –General Organa’s Force Ghost
Which LEGO STAR WARS SUMMER VACATION Character Are You?
Where are my hardcore planners? There’s always one in every group—or maybe more than one. Among the Easter eggs and callbacks within the movie, the movie also takes a few jabs at our vacation archetypes.
Poe Dameron is my planning spirit animal with his desire to do all the things and plan every minute of the trip from touring the trash compactor to the navigation deck.
Some want to enjoy their R&R in solitude—no kids (theirs or others) and choose to spend their quiet me-time in the adults-only section like Rey.
Others prefer to chill in the spa and enjoy a low-key vacation of self-indulgence to relax from an otherwise stressful life of servitude, like R2-D2, C-3PO, and BB-8.
Which of your family and friends did you see in the groups of friends?
