Right now it’s hard to be socially distanced when you travel anywhere. If you’re going to be traveling and attending events, you’re hopefully trying to be as safe as possible, and that includes being socially distanced. We just attended the first night of the Disneyland Resort Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park and have some ideas for how to have a Socially Distanced Oogie Boogie Bash.
From dining to shorter line queues, here are suggestions for having a Socially Distanced Oogie Boogie Bash based on our experiences this week at Disneyland Resort.
How to have a Socially Distanced Oogie Boogie Bash
Queue lines, parade line up, and dining are the hardest places to remain socially distanced at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park, in general, and definitely during a special event like Oogie Boogie Bash.
We curated a list of tips and suggestions to help you on your quest to have fun while still maintaining as much space between you and your fellow Oogie Boogie Bash attendees in some of the easiest ways possible.
Socially Distanced Dining at Oogie Boogie Bash
Disney has made it easy, albeit spendy AF, to have a much more Socially Distanced Dining Experience at Oogie Boogie Bash, followed by a more Socially Distanced Frightfully Fun Parade.
This year, there are 2 dining and dessert package offerings that allow you to upgrade to preferred viewing and preferred seating, respectively, for the Frightfully Fun Parade.
Oogie Boogie Bash Dining Parade Package at Wine Country Trattoria
Celebrate Halloween with a special 3-course meal and upgrade to the Parade Viewing Package. With the parade package upgrade, you get to enjoy the Frightfully Fun Parade from a specially reserved viewing area.
The Oogie Boogie Bash Dining Parade Package at Wine Country Trattoria includes:
- A 3-course Italian, prix-fixe dinner (including a starter, entrée, and dessert) at Wine Country Trattoria
- Access to one of the Frightfully Fun Parade reserved viewing areas along the parade route (you may choose the early or late parade, but it is first-come, first-serve for availability)
- Price: $55 for adults, $40 for children ages 3–9, plus tax and gratuity
- Oogie Boogie Popcorn Bucket: A popcorn-filled bucket is included with each children’s meal; available to adults for an additional $17
- 2021 Oogie Boogie Bash Dates: September 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, and 30; October 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, 30, and 31
- Package Available: 3–6 p.m. on Oogie Boogie Bash dates
How to Book Oogie Boogie Bash Dining Parade Package at Wine Country Trattoria
You can make a reservation for your dining party at Wine Country Trattoria for any night of the Oogie Boogie Bash. Advance reservations are not available for the dining package, only for dining at Wine Country Trattoria. When you arrive for your reservation at Wine Country Trattoria, let the host or server know you would like to upgrade to this dining parade package experience, subject to availability.
Special Dietary Requests tip: If you have Food Allergies and Intolerances, note that because of the prix-fixe menu style, your options are limited and they can’t/won’t just substitute for something not on that menu. The chef came out to speak with us regarding food allergies and the options were relatively limited in terms of adjustments. Many of the sauces are premade, so they were limited in the combination of what they could do but rest assured there were options, just most were very bland options.
While walk-ins may be accommodated until 6:00 p.m., subject to availability, but reservations are highly recommended.
Fine print from the Disney website:
Valid theme park admission (before 6 p.m.) and separate Oogie Boogie Bash ticket (after 6 p.m.) are required. Dining reservations do not include admission to the park or the party. Dining packages are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are subject to availability.
Each Guest in the party must purchase the prix-fixe meal in order to obtain access to the Frightfully Fun Parade reserved viewing areas.
The reserved Frightfully Fun Parade viewing areas are separate from the dining location. A Cast Member will provide directions from the restaurant to the viewing areas.
Viewing areas are standing only, with accommodations for Guests with disabilities.
Frightfully Fun Parade may be canceled due to technical issues or inclement weather without notice. Dinner packages will not be refunded.
Cancellation Policy: You must cancel at least one day prior to your reservation to avoid a per-person cancellation fee. If you fail to cancel timely and are a no-show, the credit card provided at the time of the reservation will be charged $10 per person. Cancellations and modifications to reservations can be made by visiting My Dining and Activity Reservations or via the Disneyland mobile app by tapping My Plans.
Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party at Sonoma Terrace
Oogie Boogie Bash Party guests who purchase the dessert party will receive exclusive Halloween-themed desserts and beverages. The highlight is reserved seating in front of Sonoma Terrace for the Frightfully Fun Parade, which is fantastic viewing, spread apart enough that you aren’t squished up next to you. It’s the most socially distant way we found to experience the Frightfully Fun Parade.
The dessert party cost is $84 per guest (under 2 years old are free). This cost is in addition to the full cost of a regular party ticket and advance reservations are required.
Which package to choose? My friend Kim just did a whole breakdown of the two packages so check out her post if you want more information on what’s best/better between the dining package and the dessert package.
Socially Distanced Frightfully Fun Parade at Oogie Boogie Bash
This family-friendly parade features a cast of spooky characters like the Headless Horseman and the Haunted Mansion Dancers. The parade route is about 15 minutes long, so plan your vantage point accordingly.
If you’ve upgraded your dinner to the dining parade package at Wine Country Trattoria, then you’ve already got a reserved standing area for your viewing. Get there early and you can get a spot on the end, which means you’ll only have people on one side of you, helping mitigate the number of people you could be exposed to for 15 minutes or so.
If you’ve decided to live the high life and enjoy the Dessert Party Package at Sonoma Terrace, you have the best of both worlds—great view, seats & a table, and the most space available to socially distance yourself from other guests while still being on the parade route.
We returned for our dessert party seating about 20 minutes before we were allowed to check-in, and we’re glad we did because we were able to get a table right in front so there was no one blocking our path and we were well spaced out from the other tables.
Socially Distanced Queue Lines at Oogie Boogie Bash
All the rides are open and operating during the event. Overall, the ride lines are much shorter during holiday parties at Walt Disney World. The rides also still have their markers for 6 ft apart as well as hand sanitizer stations throughout the park and rides.
This might be the perfect time to get on WEBSLINGERS if you haven’t already had a chance to fight the spider-bots.
Experiences like Villains Grove send people in waves so there are never more than 10-15 people grouped together.
The Immersive Treat Trails SHOULD be socially distanced, but they are not always, and 100% NOT socially distanced are the lines for the characters. I nearly had an anxiety attack over germs just walking by those gobs of people clustered together.
Looking for a place to stay? The HoJo Anaheim has newly renovated buildings with great space and is within walking distance to Disneyland Resort.
Are you planning to attend? What’s your favorite Socially Distanced activity at Oogie Boogie Bash?
