Star Wars, Force Friday, and Best Buy: it’s three of my favorite things all rolled into one place! Check out your local Best Buy to see new and exclusive Star Wars products and merchandise! Thanks to Best Buy for sponsoring my visit to Best Buy to see the latest hot Star Wars products. As always, all opinions are my own.
We’re huge Star Wars fans in our house. We’re so excited that select Best Buy stores around the country have an opportunity for you to go experience demo’s to try, including Sphero’s new R2D2 and BB-8 Droids and Propel’s Star Wars drones. They are so cool and definitely going to be some of the hottest holiday gifts this season. While R2-D2 will always have a soft spot in my heart, I’m a sucker for the adorable bubbly BB-8 who made his debut in Star Wars The Force Awakens. We had to have the new BB-8 by Sphero for our Star Wars collection.
Sphero Droids
These are the droids you’re looking for. The true-to-scale droids BB-8, BB-9E, and R2-D2 are from a galaxy far, far away, powered by the new Sphero App-Enabled Droids app. You can drive your droids, send them on patrol together, and more. I actually saw a session at CES when the first BB-8 model came out—so cool to see how Sphero worked with Neal Scanlon and his puppetry team to develop BB-8 for the movie! Roam iconic ship interiors and memorable locations from the Star Wars saga through augmented reality and the Droid Trainer accessory. As an added bonus, BB-9E gets to roll through a new First Order Star Destroyer from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The droid trainer helps with this experience. Each droid has different holographic environments to explore and they come with authentic sounds, too. These droids span decades of adventure from Star Wars saga—iconic R2-D2 is a veteran of the Rebel Alliance, BB-8 is a trusty astromech droid of the Resistance, and BB-9E is the First Order’s rolling menace. The specialized tech in these droids make them unlike any other. The new Watch With Me feature lets you watch them interact together and view films from the Star Wars saga with BB-8, BB-9E, and R2-D2 reacting by your side (only compatible with Rogue One, The Force Awakens, and New Hope).
We love playing with our BB-8. He’s a fan favorite. And does it get any more adorable than this sweet guy rolling around your pad? He’s so easy to navigate with the iOS app and it takes just a few seconds to connect and you’re ready to roll (literally and figuratively).

The Propel High-Performance Star Wars Battle Drones use over 10 patents in their flight technology and communication that will allow the drones to “speak” to one another while battling in flight. LIFI is an incredible new technology that stands for light fidelity. LIFI is very similar to WIFI as it allows the Star Wars Battle Drones to transmit data to one another using light. The transfer of data using LIFI is 100 times faster than WIFI, which creates the foundation of the live drone battling. Two other key technologies the Propel Drones use include:
-
-
- IAT – Intelligent Awareness Technology:

- Propel’s ground breaking IAT technology bridges the gap between virtual gaming and the real world. It unlocks a brand-new era for the gaming industry. IAT uses four latency-free wireless communication systems to create exciting and incredibly compelling gaming experience.

- Reverse Propulsion:
