More Bacta Tank and Flashbacks
The episode opens with Boba Fett spending more time in the Bacta Tank, giving us another glimpse at his life with the Tusken Raiders and an episode that is mostly one long flashback.

Bantha Bones
Walking the Dune Sea with his Bantha, Boba Fett passes by the skeletal remains of a Bantha. This is a nod to Star Wars: A New Hope when C-3PO and R2-D2 wander the Tatooine deserts and pass skeletal remains. This Bantha life/death juxtaposition is a foreshadowing of what is to come later in the episode.

The Modifier
The Modifier Boba Fett takes Fennec Shand to after Toro Calican shot her and left her for dead in “The Mandalorian” is played by Stephen “Thundercat” Bruner. Bruner is a Grammy-winning bass guitarist, singer, and songwriter (2016 for Best Rap/Sung Performance, 2021 for Best Progressive R&B Album).
In order to save her life, Boba Fett takes Fennec to The Modifier who is performing droid modifications in humans—like the ones we saw on the speeder bike gang in the previous episode. When Boba Fett enters, the Modifier asks Boba Fett, “Aren’t you a little old to be here?” as the majority of his customers are teens. This is a nod to Princess Leia’s famous insult to Luke Skywalker: “Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?”
“As You Wish”
After Boba Fett saves Fennec Shand’s life, she agrees to help him recover his ship from Bib Fortuna. She says they’ll part ways after. Boba replies, “If that is what you wish.” This line is a nod to Boba Fett’s “As you wish”in the original Star Wars trilogy. Boba Fett’s response to Darth Vader when ordered not to disintegrate anyone was always “As you wish.”
Slave 1 is now the Firespray Gunship
This is the first look we get at Boba Fett’s infamous ship—but it is no longer called the Slave I. Fett’s ship, a Firespray-31-class gunship that was built in the shipyards on the planet Kuat, is simply referred to as his “Firespray Gunship.” It doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but it does leave behind the racist connotations and Imperial implications tied to its original name and Boba Fett’s disquieting behavior in Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” and “The Mandalorian.”

Droids and Aliens Galore
Episode 4 of “The Book of Boba Fett” is littered with droid and alien Easter eggs, much like previous episodes.
-
- COO-series cook droid: first appeared on the freighter Anakin and Padmé ride in
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. It’s a real nod, however, when the droid starts violently spinning knives in his 9 hands a la General Grievous in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, when he wields lightsabers toward Obi-Wan Kenobi. - LEP-series service droid: the little “ratcatcher” droid Boba Fett chases around the Palace is a type of droid that has previously been seen in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and Star Wars: The Force Awakens
- PLNK-series power droid: aka the “plunk” droid for its distinctive sound can be spotted during Boba Fett and Fennec Shand’s escape
- EV-9D9: demoted to kitchen duty, this droid class is first seen in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi doing Jabba the Hutt’s dirty work
- R-3X droid: seen in the Sanctuary. See the R-3X droid’s history in The Book of Boba Fett Episode 2 Easter Eggs.
- R-series droids: a line of astromech droids (like R2-D2), seen in the Sanctuary. First seen in Star Wars: A New Hope.
- Sorgan frog: seen trying to escape the pot in the kitchen; first seen in “The Mandalorian.”
- Scurrier: Boba Fett roasts a scurrier and offers some to Fennec Shand to eat after they recover the Firespray Funship. Scurriers, native rodents to Tatooine, are first seen in Star Wars: A New Hope.
- Twi’leks: seen in the Sanctuary. Twi’lek Madam Garsa owns the Sanctuary cantina in Mos Espa. We first see them in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, though the name Twi’lek was never used or spoken in a Star Wars film.
- Max Rebo and some of his band: Max Rebo and at least some of his band (like this Bith guitarist) clearly made it off the sail barge alive during the battle against Jabba The Hutt and his baddies in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
- Britarro species: first seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we see one in the Sanctuary cantina. The Britarro species are green-skinned, aliens with hairless heads and flat noses from Britaxis Minor.
- COO-series cook droid: first appeared on the freighter Anakin and Padmé ride in

Hangar Shootout Nod
The shootout at the hangar, while Boba Fett and Fennec Shand fend off their pursuers while trying to escape in the Firespray Gunship, is a nod to Star Wars: A New Hope. The setup is nearly identical to the escape on Tatooine when Han Solo’s crew is trying to escape in the Millenium Falcon.
Good Mechanics at Mos Eisley
Boba Fett and Fennec Shand discuss repairing the Firespray Gunship and Fennec tells Boba that there are, “Good mechanics at Mos Eisley.” This is a reference to Peli Motto, the mechanic who aided The Mandalorian and Grogu in “The Mandalorian,” who can be spotted in a scene of Episode 3 of “The Book of Boba Fett.”
“The Mandalorian” Pan Flute Music Cameo Hint?
We hear the unmistakable pan flute musical cue when Boba Fett sees the flares and discovers Fennec Shand’s wounded body. At the end of the episode after Fennec Shand tells Boba Fett that “credits can buy you muscle if you know where to look,” you can hear the pan flute theme music from “The Mandalorian.” This could be hinting at a Din Djarin cameo in one of the remaining episodes.
